African American Art Coverage in the Black Press
During the 2020-2021 Academic Year, Rebecca was a Mellon Faculty Fellow at Vanderbilt University’s Center for Digital Humanities where she launched a digital humanities project that investigates via text mining and data analysis the ways in which the US Black popular press covered African American artists and art events in the mid-20th century. Please check back for updates as the project develops.
January 2021
Exciting news, the project has received a ProQuest TDM Research Support Grant starting January 2021 which will enable my team to conduct critical text analysis of key African American newspapers including The Afro-American, The Chicago Defender, and The New Amsterdam News among others.
